Ross Evans grew up in Kenya, spent nine years in transaction banking across London, Singapore and India and came home to join Hemingways Collection in 2016. In this Leadership interview shot at Hemingways Nairobi, he speaks about why the decision to return came as a shock even to himself, what it means to be a custodian of a family brand with properties across Nairobi, Watamu and Kigali, and why Kenyan hospitality carries a warmth that cannot be manufactured elsewhere. He also speaks about the adrenaline that defines the Kenya experience, the proximity to extraordinary wildlife and what keeps guests returning. Watch to find out more. Kisero Nairobi began in a shoe repair shop in Rongai, Nairobi. Josephat Abwova was a cobbler turned shoemaker. His son, Kevin, joined him after years of working elsewhere. Together, they pivoted from private labelling for companies in France and beyond to launching their own brand. Founded in 2020, Kisero Nairobi crafts handmade leather bags, footwear and accessories from Nairobi. Today 65 percent of their products sell in Kenya, with the remaining 35 percent going to the UK, Italy and the United States. Swipe for a closer look at the brand.
